T20 World Cup Review

This T20 world cup in the West Indies has marked the return of the dominant Australian team to the top of the rabble . The previous tournaments had seen the Australians under perform consistently leading to questions of their adaptability in this tournament. But their comprehensive wins in the preliminary matches of the T20 world cup this year, has demonstrated the backbone and ability of such a great side. Not many people would have placed a cricket bet against them for the final.
Led by Michael Clarke, the Australian team consists of talented players like Brad Haddin, Shaun Tait, Dirk Nannes, and Mitchell Johnson. Other stars that have featured prominently in the IPL are Dave Warner, the other Hussey brother, Watto and T Paine. This has been conducive to their form and practice against international players. The bowling attack of Mitchell Johnson and Dirk Nannes along with Shaun Tait allows Australia to attack through a three pronged pace battery. With secondary bowlers to come in and plug the gaps such as Nathan Hauritz, Australia will be a threat in upcoming T20 tournaments.
Although much undervalued as a T20 side, Australia shocked the cricket betting fraternity by beating the odds to defeat pre-tournament favourites India. Their victory over Pakistan in the group stage was a sign of things to come The Super8 stage saw them establish their claim to contenders seriously They won back to back matches against India, Sri Lanka and the West Indies making it an unbeaten streak through the stage.
Cricket betting tips prior to the final showed a remarkable pattern in people betting on Australia They were up against a Pakistani team who seem to always defy the odds in T20 tournaments. Australia had to beat defending champions Pakistan whilst England faced a tricky tie against the Sri Lankans.
The IPL journey has been very beneficial to the training of the Australian team. The players have grown used to pitches in the subcontinent and spinners that previously haunted them. The explosive batting shown by Watson and Warner against the Indian squad is firm testimony to this fact.
The oldest rivals, England and Australia, faced each other in the decider. The English have led an inspiring battle through the tournament making their way through challenges thrown by New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa. But betting meters underplayed the chances of England defeating Australia in the final.
Overall, the tournament was a mixed bag with some great moments and mediocre ones at times. The ouster of favorites like India and South Africa along with the home team has caused some heartburn. But the quality of games the tournament has produced has brought back people’s attention to cricket after the mess surrounding IPL. England have also turned the table of their fortunes as well.
