Posted By on March 10, 2010

Sunday markets are always my favorite time of the day. You get to dress in a comfortable outfit, wear feet hugging soft shoes, turn your hair in a bun and go hunting for the odd antique or an adorable picture. Whatever you needs, you will find them in flea markets.

Most astute bargain hunters will know that to decorate at an affordable price, you need to go to many markets which are treasure fill places to delight even the most bored person. You will find anything and everything like for instance fabulous fashion jewelry which are dated or totally popular today. Many people would buy and resell their goods and make a good living off it as well.

Flea markets make for great places to meet your friends or family on a Sunday and have a light lunch served usually by a someone’s aunt or husband or teenager. You could find the best home cooked meal or the most delicious chocolate cake, made of course with love and care and with grandma’s secret recipe no doubt.

You will find all sorts of people who visit on a frequent basis, from the mayor to the guy on his motorbike holding his black helmet with pride. There are musicians and artist who eagerly wait for us to buy their work, or there a clowns who entertain the children while the adults do some serious bargaining.

Of course no one is more astute at flea markets than housewives. They have a nose for a bargain and will readily tell you that your price is too high. You will usually find them mulling around the kitchen equipment, haggling over a hamilton beach food processor or an old fashioned bread maker machine.

A flea market or as many also call them open door markets, can be held on a Saturday or a Sunday. Usually the norm is a Sunday, because it is a day where the whole family is likely to be together. They are sometimes held once every month or fortnightly. Some towns have standard flea markets which are open daily from Monday to Sunday and on public holidays as well.

Antique objects or furniture pieces are also sold at flea markets so you will not be disappointed if you are looking for a special piece to fill a corner or a spot on the wall. Many art dealers and antique dealers use flea markets as a source to scout for that special item which nobody else wants.
