Find The Very Best Badminton Racquet For You!

| June 20, 2010

Are you looking for the badminton racquet that best suits you? Then don’t look at what your friend is using! Everybody always seems to think that just because that guy out there on the court is mashing the heck out of that shuttle, they should get the same racquet he has. However, unless you built exactly the same way he is, and unless you in exactly the same physical condition he is, you’re not going to get the same results if you use the same racquet he is. You need to find badminton racquet that works for YOU.

That guy out there might have more strength in his wrists or his arms than you do so he’s able to lift a heavier racquet. And that heavier racquet is giving him even more power. Or he may not be as strong as you so he’s using a lighter racquet with and isometric head so he doesn’t have to be as careful where he hits the shuttle. The best possible badminton racquet out there for you is the one that will give you the best possible results!

That means you’re going to have to shop around and try out a few. You may even have to buy a few different badminton racquets before you can make a real decision as to which badminton racquet is the best for you. I always tell people to try to buy used racquets for awhile until the find the racket that works best for them. I recommend this idea to all my friends, and I’m recommending it to you too.

Yes, the pros do use different racquets than you’d find in a badminton set that you buy for your backyard barbecue. Professional racquets are fine tuned for speed, power and control, and they’re also more durable. They’re build to handle the stress of competition. But just because that racket is working great for that guy out there doesn’t mean it’s going to work that well for you.   If you want to find the best badminton racquet for YOU then you’re going to have to try them all out yourself.

Selecting The Right Halex Badminton Set For You

| May 29, 2010

There are many badminton sets available from many manufacturers, such as Halex, Sportcraft, Franklin and Jacques, which may make it difficult to select the right one, but an easy test is to check the quality of the rackets and shuttlecocks. Most people just assume that when they buy a set everything will be of similar quality. But a lot of manufacturers pay more attention to the poles and the net than they do the raquets and the shuttlecocks because that’s what most people tend to complain about the most – how difficult it is to set up the net and how sturdy it is once it’s up. Here are tips on what to look for when you’re buying a badminton set.

The Raquets – When buying a Halex badminton set, or a set from any other manufacturer you won’t be able to switch out the rackets if you don’t like them. The rackets, the net poles, the net and the shuttlecocks are all included in one package. Look for a lightweight raquet made of aluminum or steel and the strings should all be evenly spaced, and of the same density, across the entire face of the raquet. Check that the grip is tightly wound with no loose or unraveling bindings.

The Shuttlecock – Most sets come with 2 to 4 shuttlecocks and they can be made of either plastic and nylon or feathers. Plastic shuttlecocks have a much longer lifespan than the feathered variety, but feather shuttlecocks provide greater accuracy and a higher performance rate.   Neither of them will last forever though, so if you’re planning to get a lot of use out of your Halex badminton set, remember to pick up extra shuttlecocks along the way. You may notice that the shuttlecocks in the set are colored – these colors indicate the speed of the shuttlecock with green indicating slow, blue for medium and red for fast. If given the choice, choose blue for recreational play.
