Carlton Badminton Rackets

| July 12, 2010

Determining which racket is the best one for you can be difficult because you have a lot of rackets from which to select. Carlton badminton rackets have been produced for decades. Carlton manufactures affordable rackets designed for beginners and recreational players as well as the high end performance rackets meant for top level athletes. Their lineup of rackets includes:

Carlton Airblade

Carlton Powerblade

Carlton Comp Ti

The Aerogear by Carlton

The price ranges for these rackets appear to be from $15.00 to $140.00. Since it is a big company that produces a lot of badminton rackets, Carlton is always developing new rackets that are better than their last models.

The pricing is definitely one of the benefits of Carlton badminton rackets as it makes it possible for someone just entering the sport to obtain a racket from a top rated manufacturer. When coming up with a new design for a racket, Carlton focuses on quickness, which is essential for success with the new scoring system in competitive matches. They also have what they call the Carlton Badminton System which can improve a player’s game based on a few criteria during manufacture. Even though the rackets are popular because of their superior quality, the nets that come with the cheaper rackets meant just for fun are not highly rated.

If you are looking for a top quality racket at a reasonable price, you should definitely look at Carlton badminton rackets as even Olympians use them. The Carlton website provides a lot of detailed information about each of their rackets. You can find out the frame weight, string tension and sixteen other parameters about each frame. Not only do you get manufacturing specifications but you also get performance data in the form of ratings for power, control and maneuverability for both hard hitters and long swing. For those of you who are just beginning, you most likely will not need all of these specs to get a racket that’s right for you.

Selecting The Right Halex Badminton Set For You

| May 29, 2010

There are many badminton sets available from many manufacturers, such as Halex, Sportcraft, Franklin and Jacques, which may make it difficult to select the right one, but an easy test is to check the quality of the rackets and shuttlecocks. Most people just assume that when they buy a set everything will be of similar quality. But a lot of manufacturers pay more attention to the poles and the net than they do the raquets and the shuttlecocks because that’s what most people tend to complain about the most – how difficult it is to set up the net and how sturdy it is once it’s up. Here are tips on what to look for when you’re buying a badminton set.

The Raquets – When buying a Halex badminton set, or a set from any other manufacturer you won’t be able to switch out the rackets if you don’t like them. The rackets, the net poles, the net and the shuttlecocks are all included in one package. Look for a lightweight raquet made of aluminum or steel and the strings should all be evenly spaced, and of the same density, across the entire face of the raquet. Check that the grip is tightly wound with no loose or unraveling bindings.

The Shuttlecock – Most sets come with 2 to 4 shuttlecocks and they can be made of either plastic and nylon or feathers. Plastic shuttlecocks have a much longer lifespan than the feathered variety, but feather shuttlecocks provide greater accuracy and a higher performance rate.   Neither of them will last forever though, so if you’re planning to get a lot of use out of your Halex badminton set, remember to pick up extra shuttlecocks along the way. You may notice that the shuttlecocks in the set are colored – these colors indicate the speed of the shuttlecock with green indicating slow, blue for medium and red for fast. If given the choice, choose blue for recreational play.
