Wrestling Gimmicks And Tools That Help Entertain The Crowd

| April 17, 2010

In the wrestling world, all of the athletes have to come up with individual gimmicks to help them entertain the crowd. Wrestling is sports entertainment for reason. The following paragraphs will discuss some of the different gimmicks and tools that wrestlers commonly use to help them entertain the crowd with the show.

One wrestling gimmick revolves around the wrestler bringing a guitar to the ring with him. Of course he is not allowed to use the guitar as a weapon, but he does when the referee is not looking. All the wrestler has to do is find an electric guitar for sale and he is all set! His gimmick is complete!

Next, wrestlers have been known to use gimmicks that involve helmets. Some of the wrestlers use gimmicks that entail riding motorcycles to the ring wearing a helmet. Others just wear a helmet so that they can throw it to the fans before starting their match. Once I saw a wrestler with a black helmet gimmick where he would head butt his opponent while wearing the helmet. A blood capsule was taped to the top of the helmet and exploded upon impact.

Another thing that totally pleases wrestling fans is when the wrestlers have gimmicks that include face paint or make up. In any wrestling crowd you will find fans with their face make up designed to support their favorite wrestler.

Wearing a full face mask to cover their faces is also popular among wrestlers, especially wrestlers from Mexico. In Mexico, their masks represent honor. They are also useful tools for those wrestlers who, for story line purposes, are choosing to hide their real identities. The crowd knows who it is, and chants their name. The wrestler then yells back that they are wrong. Eventually the mask usually gets removed during a match.

Lastly, instead of wearing pants or shorts to wrestle in, some wrestlers choose the older style speed-o type wrestling trunks to help with their gimmicks. These wrestlers normally have to use men waxing products before they wear this type of trunks to the ring.

Props and gimmicks are important to the wrestling world. If the crowd is not entertained then the wrestlers will not be successful. Fans are the ones who buy the tickets to see the shows, so essentially they pay their salary. With this fact in mind, many wrestlers turn to popular gimmicks and props that please the fans.

Is The Guitar The Coolest Musical Instrument Of All?

| April 9, 2010

In all the universe of musical instruments, how many men — at least — would ever argue with the notion that there’s never been a cooler musical instrument than an acoustic or electric guitar? Sure, a drum set can give the guitar a run for its money in certain circumstances, but who’s strong enough to strap a set of drums on their back and play for nickels and dimes on a street corner? A guitar lets a person do that, if needed.

No, the typical guitar has inspired more men to become master air guitarists or even actual guitarists than the thought of becoming a superstar baseball player has inspired more than a few sandlot players to keep up with the sport. Consider one of those huge dreadnought acoustic guitar setups. The thing looks big, but it plays beautifully and women dig it, right?

In addition to all of the guitar’s physical attractions, there seems to be something metaphysical to it, as well. Certainly women seem to feel it, as most of them admit that a guy who knows how to play guitar is — even when he’s really not — a bit more interesting. It may not be that they’re all that attracted to the guy, but the sounds coming from the guitar certainly have an effect.

Think about guitars for second; they have a certain shape to them that just calls out to people to play them. Pick up a nice Alvarez acoustic guitar and give it a run. Many men go wobbly just at the possibility of them being able to learn to play it well enough. Truthfully, very few ever really do learn to really hammer it, but guys have their fantasies about such things, it must be admitted.

Guitars have really come to dominate cultural music perspective over the last half-century from the time when Chuck Berry first started duck walking across the stage to the sweet sounds of a melodic rendition of ‘Johnny B. Goode.’ And though the whole Chuck Berry thing is meant to be humorous, it’s still true that a guy sitting around with even an acoustic guitar eventually tries to figure out the opening run to that song, no matter his age.

And this is the beauty of learning to play guitar; because one can start out on something like a Takamine acoustic guitar and then — after toughening up his fingertips and strengthening his hand muscles — be ready to transfer all that hard-won knowledge over to a slick playing and totally beautiful sunburst Fender Strat. What boy or man hasn’t dreamed of that?

Yes, it has to be said; there truly is no cooler musical instrument than the guitar. It doesn’t matter whether someone plays strictly acoustic or strictly electric; pulling out a guitar and being able to strum a few chords automatically elevates whoever’s doing the playing just a little bit above other people in the same room, which is really, really cool.
