Here’s a really simple way to explain the role of free soccer drills in training the players. There are no set rules. Being the coach you have the freedom to innovate and make your own drills and games.

For your own specific requirements the existing soccer exercises can be altered. For creating an effective soccer training program, I have shared some of my ideas.

Your plans should be flexible. It is natural that all your plans may not work out as desired. The kids will be absent only when it rains or get sick. Make sure you have adequately covered all the potential obstructers.

We should have plenty of planned soccer practice games. Delete an item if there is any delay skip the item and proceed to the next item. Just go with the flow and you will be able to make out what works best with the kids.

Soccer Drills

All the kids should warm up before any practice session. The kids should use both regular soccer drills for warming up and also the soccer ball. You can make them rotate the ball using both the feet, kick the ball back and forth between the feet and so on.

For warm up activity there are plenty of free soccer drills available which are fun too.

A soccer ball is made available to each of the soccer player. Now devise several individual activities that they can perform using the ball. Activities such as shooting, dribbling and hitting the ball against the wall should be practiced. No marking or lines should be made on the ground so that the movement of players shouldn’t be hindered.

Ensure the players are part of some group activities during soccer coaching upon completion of the individual activities. There is a lot of fun in drills like passing and receiving the balls. Make the kids play soccer grouped into team without a goalkeeper. Let them hit the goals and do not set boundaries for this game.

Upon learning to attack the players should be taught how to defend. This will lead the players to hone their own individualistic skills.

During group activities the players should be grouped together as a team. Generally the kids will require some time to adjust to the concept of team play while shifting from individual to group activities. The role of the coach is to just guide the players.

To win matches the players should play as a unit, this should be taught to them. The greatest gain is the players learn to play in a limited area without doing much with the ball and also to learn to work as a team.

One of the easiest ways to conduct soccer exercise is this. Have an open idea to mix and add couple of free soccer drills that you think will make the kids learn soccer better.
