March Madness Previews – Duke Blue Devils And Texas Longhorns

| April 25, 2011

As we get nearer to the NCAA NCAA March Madness betting championship tournament, all eyes are on this year’s favorites. Not merely is your workplace bracket destined to be determined by the progress of the teams in the championship, but NCAA betting is one of the most interesting times of the year for an online sports book. Let’s take a look at two of the faves – defending winners Duke Blue Devils and the Texas Longhorns.

Duke’s basketball program is always a championship challenger, and 2011 will be no distinct. If the tournament started today, the squad would probably be a No. 2 seed, competing with Kansas for the No. 1 seed. And Kansas’ loss to Kansas State could put Duke over the edge for a No. 1 seed. So far, Duke is the fave to repeat.

The squad is furthermore deeper this year, in spite of losing superstar Kyrie Irving for potentially the remainder of the year. The Blue Devils have adapted to the loss, with both the Plumlee brothers and Nolan Smith picking up the slack of the missing Irving. All in all, the Duke Blue Devils are essentially made for a competition run and will be considerable championship contenders this year.

The Longhorns are additionally looking stronger than ever to date this year. With Kansas and Ohio State suffering some recent losses, Texas is potentially the leading ncaa basketball squad right now. Plus they are looking ahead fairly than backward, as looking backward gives them a view of last year’s depressing performance where they went 17-0 at the start of the season, then went 7-10 before being beaten in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament.

But this year, Texas is at the leading of the Big 12 conference and could give Duke a run for its money if the 2 teams ever meet (although their 1st chance would be in the Elite 8). The Longhorns are furthermore suffering from sub-par free throw endeavors, which they’ll have to boost if they want to stand a possibility during March Madness gambling.

For many hunters, the sport of elk hunting is challenging enough, but many like to add another element of their hunt by using black powder cartridge rifles. When using the black powder cartridge the hunter channels ancestors past and their traditional hunting techniques.

While using black powder cartridges is too messy for some what with the black powder, it is actually a much more precise and efficient method for hunting. The black powder cartridge rifle takes a lot of practice and dedication to master, but for many hunters it is just the perfect hobby to kill their boredom in the off-season. A hunter who chooses this method to take his game will no doubt spend hours practicing, but his trophy will be that much more satisfying.

This game also offers the hunter the choice of hunting any number of other species. It focuses not so much on the hunt itself, but on the excitement of the hunt. This is also the 10th anniversary edition and is sponsored by one of the biggest names in hunting gear. While this game also has a bigger price tag, for the adrenaline junkie hunter, it's a win.

The Third Era, The Middle Ages

Perhaps one of the most interesting times in the history of hunting, is the middle ages. This is the period in time where hunting for food was a vital part of life for many, though restricted. Rules on hunting, such as no hunting in the King's Forest, was the first real restrictions on hunting present in the world. Only the rich prospered, and the surf classes hunted whatever they could, when they could for survival. Hunting, from boar to deer to fox hunting, became primary sports for the nobility of the time frame. This started the trend of organized hunts for sport.

Colonists to the New World required as much hunting skills as possible, during this period of time, although they progressed quickly from relying on scavenging and hunting to creating farms and plantations. Popular weapons for use in hunting during this time period was forms of archery, slings and throwing spears. The gun was also used, although it had not quite yet reached full levels of popularity.

The Fourth Era, The Industrial Period

On the heels of the Middle Ages was the Industrial period. This era stretched from beyond the 1700s until just after the start of the 1900s. The evolution of machines brought about great changes in hunting. Large farms became very popular, where livestock was raised instead of the practice of hunting wild animals, downgrading hunting to only become a past time. Guns, ranging from muskets to rifles, were being to be used extensively. Archery was downgraded to sport use only, though it was very popular for tests of skill.
